Let's doodle a beach bucket
Treat this as one playful practice round: sketch the idea loosely, simplify the shapes, then commit with confident marker outlines and bright fills.
-
01
Block the bucket
Draw a tilted bucket body with a wide top ellipse, tapered sides, and a curved lower edge.
Doodle tip: Set the tilt early. A slight lean makes the bucket feel playful instead of like a plain flowerpot.
-
02
Add rim and base
Wrap a thick rounded rim around the opening and clean up the bucket base.
Doodle tip: Let the rim follow the same ellipse as the opening. Matching curves make the bucket feel round.
-
03
Swing the handle
Draw a tall arched handle over the bucket and add small side attachment circles.
Doodle tip: The handle should attach near the rim on both sides. Keep it open enough that it does not crowd the bucket.
-
04
Tuck in beach details
Add a small shovel leaning beside the bucket, a simple stripe around the middle, sand dots, and thick black outlines.
Doodle tip: Keep the shovel smaller than the bucket. It should support the doodle, not become the main object.
-
05
Fill the beach colors
Fill the bucket turquoise, the handle and stripe orange, the shovel yellow, then leave shine gaps and add a gray sand shadow.
Doodle tip: Marker streaks are fine. Color inside the shapes you already built so the doodle stays crisp.
-
06
Pop the beach bucket
Reinforce the existing black outlines, deepen the marker fills, sharpen the shine gaps, and strengthen the sand shadow.
Doodle tip: Stop before adding waves or lettering. The bucket, handle, shovel, and sand dots already tell the beach story.
