Felt-tip marker mode
Let's draw a cartoon rocket ship
Treat this as one playful practice round: sketch the idea loosely, simplify the shapes, then commit with confident marker outlines and bright fills.

01
Set the flight guide
Draw a light tall rounded body guide with a vertical center axis.
Doodle tip: Ghost the two long side curves first, then pull each one from top to bottom in a single relaxed pass. Matching the empty space on both sides of the axis keeps the body steady.
-
02
Shape nose and fins
Add a pointed nose cone at the top and two matching triangular fins at the lower sides of the established body.
Doodle tip: Place both fin tips lightly before connecting them. Comparing their height is faster than trying to copy one fin stroke-for-stroke.
-
03
Drop in the window
Draw a round porthole near the upper body and a simple band around the lower body.
Doodle tip: Mark the porthole center before looping the circle. Rotating the paper can make a confident circle much easier than scratching around it.
-
04
Launch the flame
Attach a layered flame below the existing body and add two small star marks beside the rocket.
Doodle tip: Build the flame as nested points that all start at the same base. Keep the stars small so they support the rocket instead of taking over.
-
05
Fill the rocket color
Trace the established rocket, window, fins, flame, and stars in black, then fill the body red, the fins and window cyan, and the flame yellow with a purple center.
Doodle tip: Fill from each black edge inward and let the marker strokes follow the long body. The slight streak texture is part of the handmade look.
-
06
Give the rocket lift
Strengthen the existing black contours, tidy the red, cyan, yellow, and purple fills, and add tiny white highlights to the already colored rocket parts.
Doodle tip: Stop before adding another rocket, a planet, words, or a face. The pointed nose, porthole, fins, and flame already make the subject read instantly.
