Let's draw a laundry basket
Treat this as one playful practice round: sketch the idea loosely, simplify the shapes, then commit with confident marker outlines and bright fills.
-
01
Shape the laundry basket
Draw one wide shallow oval for the opening, then drop two gently sloping sides and join them with one rounded lower edge to make the basket body.
Marker tip: Ghost the oval twice before touching down. Keep the lower edge a little flatter than the opening so the basket feels planted.
-
02
Build the woven basket
Attach exactly two oval handles at the left and right rim, then cross the basket front with exactly three broad horizontal bands and four short vertical dividers.
Marker tip: Place the two long horizontal separators first, then align four divider routes through the three rows. Count both handles before moving on.
-
03
Drape the clean laundry
Drape exactly two separate socks over the rear rim and tuck one folded towel between them, stopping every hidden rim line at the laundry edges.
Marker tip: Draw the foreground socks and towel over the rim, then restart visible rim segments in the gaps. Keep both side handles clear.
-
04
Stripe the socks
Wrap exactly three curved stripes around each sock, then add one short stitched edge across the established folded towel without changing any overlap.
Marker tip: Curve every stripe with its sock and keep the gaps even. Count three on the left and three on the right before darkening the towel stitches.
-
05
Reserve shine and shadow
Reserve exactly two small open-paper highlights on the basket front and place one broken deep-navy shadow beneath the lower edge, keeping both handles, both socks, and all six stripes clear.
Marker tip: Place one highlight low on each side of the basket for an easy final count. Leave three paper breaks through the navy ground shadow.
-
06
Color the laundry-day finish
Fill the established basket teal, one sock coral, the other golden yellow, the towel violet, and the same stripe bands and shadow deep navy. Leave both highlights open and add no new shapes.
Marker tip: Pull teal strokes around the basket curve and color each sock from cuff to toe. Count two handles, two socks, six stripes, one towel, and two highlights, then stop while the marker grain still shows.
