Felt-tip marker mode
Let's draw a yo-yo
Treat this as one playful practice round: sketch the idea loosely, simplify the shapes, then commit with confident marker outlines and bright fills.
-
01
Draw the yo-yo face
With a black felt-tip marker, draw one bold round yo-yo face tilted slightly right, leaving open paper above it for the string.
Marker tip: Draw the face large enough to hold four colored sectors later.
-
02
Give the wheel depth
Echo a narrow side rim along the lower-right edge of the circle, then place one small round hub at its center.
Marker tip: Keep the center hub circular and the right rim narrow.
-
03
Loop the string
From the top of the yo-yo, pull one thin string upward and curl it into one large open loop to the upper left.
Marker tip: Start the string at twelve o’clock so its single upper-left loop stays attached.
-
04
Show the spin
Outside the disc, draw exactly two short curved motion marks on the left and one small four-point sparkle high to the right.
Marker tip: Count two left motion strokes and one separate sparkle.
-
05
Add bands and ground
Inside the disc, draw four curved divider arcs from the outer edge to the central hub, making four sectors. Below the yo-yo, put one broken shadow.
Marker tip: Count four arcs meeting the hub and four broad sectors before adding color.
-
06
Fill the spinning yo-yo
Let the black ink dry. Fill the established disc bands coral and teal, the hub yellow, and the rim deep navy. Leave small paper streaks in the marker fill.
Marker tip: Color one sector at a time and leave visible paper streaks in each marker fill.
